Pelican Observations
When I was out on a fishing trip with my 16 year old brother cody and my mom at the "north jetti"
a popular peir/ beach in florida, I saw a flock of white pelicans each spread out to about 2 feet away from one another, and they kept coming closer to the rockes, herding fish towards eachother. To catch the fish the pelicans would duck under the water instead of diving as most pelicans would have.
Grey Squirrel Observations
In my backyard on a warm mid-afternoon there was a fairly large grey squirrel miding it's own buisseness in one of the neighboring trees. It scurried down to pick up as many nuts as possible ( Probablly because the day before i had set out a small pile of nuts to lure birds to my back yard for observation) then when its little chubby grey cheeks where full, it scurried back up to the same tree it was origionally in and started eating. I happened to capture a photo before the squirrel scurried to a power line and ran away.
Mosquito Observations
On my porch, or front deck as some might say, i saw that a small female mosquito was on my arm drawing blood. I thought about the previous information I had learned in my science class, and i decided not to kill the mosquito ince they risk their lives to get a blood meal just to be able to give birth. As the mosquito started to try to fly away i helped it and picked it up, and placed it on a tree it soon flew away.
Red ants/ Fire ants
A small drone was on a medium sized mount about 2 feet away from any other ants. The small drone was carring a small seed into the mount, probably to feed the queen and larva. I soon became a hazard to the ants in my backyard, and they started to attack my bare feet with the fire- like venom, that left me with dozens of stings.
Green anole lizard
The green anole lizard was sitting on a small pole in my front yard by the front of my house. The lizard was about 7 inches long from head to tail, and it was basking in the sun preparing to shed off his next peice of skin. The lizard was also pushing a small red flap of skin out. When it became aware of me and saw me as a threat, it ran to the bushes to hide.
Blue Jay
The blue jay was standing in a tree, chirping at another blue jay that was coming close to its nest. The second blue jay was flying towards the nest at a very slow pace towards the nest, when the first blue jay began to chirp loudly as if it were preparing for battle. Soon both birds were in the air fighting and ripping eachothers feathers out. Then as soon as one had won, both birds flew away, probably to hunt for food.
Falcon
The large falcon was perched on it's nest looking over the world below. It soon spotted something moving and its head started to twitch watching the small animal fly around. It lifted its head, spread its wings, and took flight. When it dove, it looked as if it were free falling, anf finally it caught it's prey, killing it with the speed of the attack and bringing it back to it's nest.
Manatee
The large manatee had a smaller manatee at its side, most likely the larger manatee's baby. The manatees came up for air about seven times, each time in a diffrent spot. Bubbles came to the surface several times while the manatees were under water, and each time they came up, water blew into the air, then they went back down.
Pinfish
I was swimming at thhe north jettie by the rocks where pinfish go to feed. The pinfish would nibble on small morsels of shrimp dropped by fishermen, and the occasional krill. Then spotting me with the quickness, they all swam for saftey under rocks. when i sat still for a while they came out and began to nibble once more.
Fiddler crab
The small crab was on a rock covered in oyseters at El' Jobean peir. It was a gray crab with small white spots, and a large pitcher on one side. When a peice of shrimp, or any dead fish floated by, the crab jumped into the water to be the first crab to eat it. Soon when it got to the small morsel of food, it began to rip small peices of meat off and one by one, putting them into there mouths.
Black racer snake
The snake was coiled around one black leg of my firepit in my backyard. When i walked up to the snake, it raised its head, hissed, and uncoiled it's self preparing to strike my leg. soon it found out i was not a threat and it slithered away into a large bush.
Yellow jacket wasp
The small yellow and black striped wasp sat on the tree, chewing bark into a pulp. When it senced me coming close, it started to beat its small wings, and began to fly, stinger drawn. Soon after me not moving, it began a landing pattern of flight, and soon began to resume chewing bark.
